(866) 675-7086Cocaine Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from their addiction. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. There are no dues or fees for CA membership — the fellowship is self-supporting through voluntary contributions from its own members.
Cocaine Anonymous was founded in Hollywood, California in 1982, during the height of the cocaine epidemic. The program was established by recovering cocaine users who recognized that they needed a twelve-step fellowship specifically tailored to their experience. CA adopted the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous, changing only the references to alcohol and AA. The program has since grown to include meetings throughout North America, Europe, and other parts of the world.
A distinctive feature of Cocaine Anonymous is its recognition that people who struggle with cocaine often have relationships with other mind-altering substances as well. CA's approach is to address all substances together rather than focusing exclusively on cocaine. Members commit to abstinence from cocaine and all other mind-altering substances, including alcohol, marijuana, and prescription medications when used outside medical necessity. This comprehensive approach recognizes that cross-addiction is common and that genuine recovery often requires addressing all substances.
The CA recovery program is based on the Twelve Steps, which guide members through a process of self-examination, acknowledgment of past wrongs, amends-making, and continued spiritual and personal growth. Members typically work the steps with the guidance of a sponsor, an experienced CA member who has completed the steps themselves. Meetings provide regular support, accountability, and the opportunity to hear others share their experience.
If you think you have a problem with cocaine or any other mind-altering substance, you are welcome at Cocaine Anonymous. You don't need to have used cocaine exclusively, or even primarily. Many members have histories with multiple drugs. The only requirement is a desire to stop using. Whether you're currently using, recently clean, or have been in recovery for years, there is a place for you in CA.
